We weren't very fast with it, but it was a consistent one mee.dommel.be/BMW_setup.svm

Thanks for your help, we 'll test this setting and after that we know what it was. I mean, maybe it was a bad setup, or we are so slowest for this race and of course for the next one...

After that check, i bring you the respond.

Re: Post Race Feedback

A very fun race, thank you all for making it such a great event!

Huge respect to VRL1 Tim Vahee's team and SFH with the Corvette, both extremely fast teams.

Does anyone have any replays they's perhaps like to share? Our teams had replays turned off and it would be nice to have them for producing a video. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Fantastic event again Patrick! Grats to all winners and everybody for the great racing. The 24h event was good, but this one was even better. Better mod, more involving track, better organisation, better servers and better driving.

Our race was great fun, we had our share of trouble in the end. We aimed for P3 in GT2, and even P2 was at grasp, but in the end we only got P5.
At first, we started at the back because I got the wrong day in mind for qualifying. I was ready for action on sunday, but quali took place on friday and saturday... D'oh! But the race was long enough, so we just needed to stay out of trouble.
That last starting spot gave the Simjunkies Porsche a headstart, but made our race a lot more interesting. I was making up a lot of places in the beginning, great fun. We ended up in 3rd place after a while, and after some mishaps of the second placed car we got upto second place.

In the final few hours it went wrong: when we where on primetime telly Dieter was in the end of his stint and under heavy pressure by a Lotus when he messed up in Raidillon and crashed heavy. Our first escape was a fact, and we fell back to P5.

I managed to climb up to P4 but when Tom took over from me for the final stint of the race he got discoed after a pitstop when he exited pitlane. Aaargh! Nothing wrong with his connection, because TS was still working fine, it was a rF disco. When he rejoined we fell back to P5 again. Too bad as those driverchanges all went flawless until the last one.

When we were closing in fast on P4 we just needed a few laps to fly by when the server crashed, ending up in a unsatisfying P5. Oh well...

The car was fantastic by day, what great fun to drive that Porsche. In the dark my laptimes got slower and I realised tracktemperatures where going down and my tires where cooling down. They fell to 50 - 60°. The Corvette's on the other hand seemed to enjoy the cooler temps and where flying. I had to really throw the car around to get some heat in it, and it worked, laptimes where tumbling again. Exciting stuff, but it's a pity I couldn't change my tire pressures in the pitmenu. Can't wait for rF2 for a lot more of those changing conditions... ;)

Bring on the next endurance please!

Tim Vanhee

Re: Post Race Feedback

Joe Keefe reporting from the ADC-SimHQ Team (originally registered as ADC Junior).

When I took over three hours into the race and was given a car with no damage and no penalties, yet we were in P19, I could tell how strong this field was. We drove with only two drivers, each planning on driving for about 3 hours and then handing off. We had three driver swaps as planned, and each one went flawlessly.

Unfortunately my computer wen quite crazy when I got back in the car to finish the race. My system locked up on my outlap, and I lost a bunch of time rebooting it, as well as reconfiguring and starting the necessary utilities such as TeamSpeak and L2RIR (plus the 2-lap penalty for disconnecting). About 10 laps later rFactor locked up and I could not terminate the program, so I had to reboot again. Thouroughly frustrated at this point, I joined the server yet again and continued driving. At this point something was sending randomn keypresses; L2RIR kept saying "Already Connected" (meaning the PAUSE key was being sent repeatedly). My left arrow key stuck down, removing all fuel from my pit settings when I went to examine them (luckily I was able to get the key to unstick and got gas into my car). And the worst of it all, my driving view changed on me twice, uncommanded. The first time was bad enough, but the second time it happened in the middle of Blanchimont and I spun and crashed the car, puncturing a tire. When the server crashed and I lost connection, I thought I had had a third major problem. After the server crashed I couldn't even log back in because randmon letters were appearing in the password field. It was truly strange.

Since I was fumbling around the track at the end in P21, I was being caught rapidly from behind by a much faster driver. The crash and red flag saved us the embarassment of losing yet another place late in the race. I was relieved to hear that the remainder of the race had been cancelled.

Three items of feedback:

1. I did use the L2RIR audio plugin, and felt it was very useful. I had other problems with L2RIR in general and will post about them in the L2RES support thread, as they are not race specific. I set the audio plugin to update me every 2 minutes, which for this long lap seemed to work well. At a shorter track I might prefer a bit more frequent update, but in any case this is adjustable by the user. We could use a slider to control the volume, and ideally some hotkeys to adjust it on-track. It would also be nice to have a hotkey to disable/enable the voice, in case the user wants to turn it on and off while driving. I think it's a great feature overall, and in a mod where gaps are large (and rather innacurately reported by L2R anyway due to the nature of the application), I prefer hearing this information rather than having to look at it and risk a mistake. Spa is not a place where I felt I could take my eyes off the road anywhere but the straight before and after Eau Rouge.

2. I had a hard time determining who I was racing and who was lapping me. As one of the slower cars in this event I assumed anyone coming up behind me should be let by, and so I let everyone by. I think this cost me a position once or twice, but these cars would have passed me a few corners later regardless. Some of this trouble could be remedied by more communication within the team.

3. Almost everyone was very courteous during overtaking. I would see cars coming, flash my lights once or twice into a corner to let them know I was staying wide and/or giving them the line, and as they would pass they would flash their lights to say thank you. While I did have one big accident at Eau Rouge and punctured a tire at the exit of Pouhon, I only touched one car in the entire race (when he slid in front of me in the middle of Pouhon), in part due to this good communication.

Here's our setup for the BMW CSL. I got it down to 2:37.6, Michiel managed 2:36.6 in qualifying.

My lap is included.

Re: Post Race Feedback

Thx for the feedback about audio. I think this feature will be much improved soon.

I have no replay on the server since i disabled it for better stability.

So everyone who has a replay to share is welcome.

Re: Post Race Feedback

Here comes the feedback on behalf of the ART-team.

First of all congrats to all teams, as said previously it was nice to drive with you all. Every time we had to pass someone or were passed it went very well. Enough room and courtesy to make the pass possible!!

Congrats to the winners and podium finishers. It as a great fight in front between you 3 guys! Nice!!

Finally, congrats to Patrick for making this possible. It's even more fantastic that you handle this alone. Monitoring the server, being on race control chat, TV monitoring, etc, etc. I have no words for this, but just a question: are you human??

Now our race: It wasn't really what we expected to be on behalf of hte result. We tought we would be more consistent, and for sure much faster. Unexpectedly we where 3 to 4sec of the pace we had in qualy and testing. Why, is unanswerred. On the other hand we are very happy to have driven these 11:15h race without any major problem. We didn't disco and didn't destroy our car. I don't think many teams did it too. In the end we really could feel the car was end of life. We had loss of power and also the brakes were fading away like snow in front of sun... We had great fights all among the race so it was great fun. It was also a challenge for us because it was the first time we drove in team, but we did it well!!

We didn't have any technical problems while driving. Ricardo lost his internet connection once and my computer reset itself whithout any warning. Lucky for us it was when we were not driving. Apart from that no major problems except for the sound. I allready reported that problem in the beginning of testing. Offline you have good sound and when you go online the enigine gets silent and othe contestants get louder. Sometimes it's the opposite. Jan had the same problem this time and apparently someone other too. Is this a mod-bug or someting else, I don't know, but it's very disturbing.

I used the audio plugin, but i regularly went down. It was set up for timing every 90s but sometimes it was quite for more than 5 minutes. Apart from that it was helpfull.

Again, congrats to everyone, more specifically to Duncan/Patrick. We are waiting for the next one dude!!!

I had the same thing with the sound, the problems is, is that when you take over from your teammate, rf will use opponent sound volume. Now if you have oponent volume low like I had, it will mess up the sound when you take over. I took over from Dennis for the last part, but I couldnt hear my own engine sound when other cars were around me, which is anoying, because you miss feedback from the car. Also when cars were close to me, when they locked up their tyres at the busstop for example, I heard the tyre squeel from their cars over my own engine sound ..... not really what you want.

I simply forgot to change the oponent volume before taking over from Dennis.

Re: Post Race Feedback

Jep, I had the silent engine sound issue at the 24 hours, and right before the start of this event I figured this one out:
If you own car's engine volume is setup to be louder than the opponents volume, rF thinks that your driving teammate is an opponent car, so sounds are not as loud when you take over. Set all volumes at 100% to be safe, and adjust your volumes of rF and TS in windows to your liking.

Re: Post Race Feedback

I'm not sure of this is right. I also had that sound problem in the testraces. As soon as I went online (logged in as a driver) with the car all sounds were messed up.... Offline, everything was then ok.
