FERRARI SWITCH
Modifié par duncan sur 28/02/2010 23:10:10)

FERRARI

I can't get anything satisfying from the Ferrari so I open 3 slots in GT1 for the Ferrari owners.

1 Capri 3100 - SimJunkies 1
1 Pantera - R4R Motorsports
1 Corvette

You are free to switch your Ferrari for one of these cars until 28th february 11H00 PM GMT.

Tell your preference (1,2,3). If concurrent preferences, first arrived first served rule will be applied.
Of course if you want to keep the challenging Ferrari you're welcome

Re: FERRARI SWITCH - PORSCHE WEIGHT

Ouch, this will hurt. I just knew doing those 900laps in Porsche and finding an ideal setup would cause issues. I remember when I was able to make a 2:43 lap I was so happy! I see Tim's team mate was not too fast in Porsche though, looks like little practice.

I also did so testing in Capri 2600 for a few laps and with default setup in a few laps ran 2:42.

Our Simjunkies Lotus now has a best time of 2:40.5, I should tell him no more practice haha.

Not too pleased by this I must say!

Re: FERRARI SWITCH - PORSCHE WEIGHT

I agree Earnhardt, with so many different drivers you are bound to have some teams who are faster. Just coincidence that both are driving a Porsche.

Indeed lack of testing causes a lot of difference in lap times. For instance I have hardly driven the past month and I could only manage stable 2.46s while my teammate could do 2.42s and 2.43s if he kept his focus.

Re: FERRARI SWITCH - PORSCHE WEIGHT

This looks unfair and penalizing driver practice and commitment instead of car.

I forgot to mention, Porsche needs more pitstop than any car in GT2.

This is utter BS...
What are you basing yourself on for the Porsche being too fast?

I strongly disagree, there where some very fast Lotusses around us, but ran into trouble. They matched our pace, and use less fuel, so will be advantaged on the long run. There where 3 very fast drivers running Porsches yesterday. Huge respect for Earnhardt & Caspar for keeping up the pace, I was not exactly running a sustainable endurance pace, I was giving it hell to make up lost time. On the edge of disaster, but it went fine.

My teammate for example was at least 4 secs off my pace with 2:46's, and in the WSC70 24u race I challenged some longtail P5000 cars with my slower 917k. I'm not one to brag about this, but I don't want my early pace in these testraces too cause all Porsches to be penalised...

These are just testraces where a lot of people don't show their real pace yet. I know I was on my pace, that's all the speed I can get out of it, and now we will be disadvantaged because of that? The previous testrace I was challenging the GT1's with my same pace, now they got faster. I can't get the Porsche a lot faster than this, I know there's more speed to come from most of the GT1 and GT2 teams...

Re: FERRARI SWITCH - PORSCHE WEIGHT

May I suggest running all GT2 cars yourselves for 10 laps and see what times are done? I think it will show that the Porsche will be far from the fastest.

Yesterday Our best lap was a 2:42, Tim ran one 2:41 where the Lotus ran several 2:41's. Also we were running max revs and lowest gear and the engine temps have to monitored closely to avoid blowing up. As it was a short race and not an endurance everything was ok. We'll most likely have to run less revs and more gear for 12 hours.

Re: FERRARI SWITCH - PORSCHE WEIGHT

This is extremely disappointing.  Penalising the guys who've put in plenty of hours and hundreds of laps worth of practice by slowing down their cars is a real kick in the nuts.  And speaking for myself, I've also done hundreds of practice laps worth of setup tuning to get the Lotus where it is now to catch up to those guys in the Porsches, and the Porsche is indeed not faster than the Lotus.  They are very evenly matched, with the Porsche out-gunning the Lotus on the straights and the Lotus eating back that time in the twisty bits.  There is literally nothing between them in terms of performance.

How about instead of other teams complaining about the pace of cars in front, do some practice laps and some tuning sessions to get your pace up with the leaders!  Penalties for practice and committment is a joke!  No doubt if we spent the same time practicing/tuning in the Dallara or the Porsche compared to what we've done in the Lotus we would probably be in the same spot as we are now.

Re: FERRARI SWITCH - PORSCHE WEIGHT

I agree, seems like a knee jerk reaction to give the Porsches weight. Just look how many hours these guys have put in!

Ive had little time in the Lotus and my PB is 2.46 im sure i could get it down to 2.41/2 if i had the time and dedication that they have.

Why penalise dedication?

Re: FERRARI SWITCH - PORSCHE WEIGHT

Mea Culpa guys.

I made a mistake by checking weights between porsche.hdv and porsche_wb.hdv  so the hdv of the porsche for our race has already 20/30 kgs of the penalty i thought of.

I think i can reward your commitment to the race with this difference of 10 kgs by cancelling this "overweight".

I did test the cars weeks ago and and i can confirm  i am much more comfortable with the Lotus than with the Porsche.
